Need a hand?
CallSlate turns your shooting schedule into a live countdown on your phone, Lock Screen and Apple Watch. If something is not working, or you have an idea for the app, this page is the place to start.

Do I need an account to use CallSlate?
You can create and run projects within the free plan without an account. Your projects, schedules, crew and gear live on your own device.
Buying or restoring CallSlate Pro requires Sign in with Apple. This links your subscription to your account so it can be recognised after a reinstall or on another device. Schedule sharing is a Pro feature. Signing in does not sync your projects between devices.
Does CallSlate work without internet?
Yes, for the part that matters on a shoot day: your schedule and its countdown live on your device.
Features that need a connection are AI import, sharing, weather and drive times.
Which app do addresses open in?
Apple Maps by default. You can switch to Google Maps or Waze under Settings, Preferences.
Importing a call sheet
I imported a PDF and the times are wrong
AI extraction is not perfect, especially with unusual call sheet layouts. You can edit every block afterwards.
Two things that usually help: pick just the pages that hold the schedule before importing, and check that the date and start time of the project itself are right.
Which files can I import?
PDF call sheets, Word documents (.docx), text files (.txt or .md), pasted text, a schedule CSV, or an entry from your calendar. PDF and Word files go to our server, Word only to pull out the text.
For PDF, Word and text you review the result on screen and tap Create before anything is saved. A schedule CSV and a backup go straight in, because there is no AI step.
Does the AI see my whole call sheet?
The PDF itself is uploaded to our server, which reads the pages you name in the Pages field. Leave it blank for all pages. Only that text goes to OpenAI for extraction.
Before your first import you agree on the AI processing of your document screen by tapping Agree and continue. OpenAI does not use this text to train its models.
Live tab, Lock Screen and Watch
The Live Activity on my Lock Screen stopped updating
Open the app once, which brings the card back in step.
If it keeps happening, check that Live Activities are enabled for CallSlate in the iPhone Settings app, and that Low Power Mode is off. Let us know if it persists, and mention roughly when it stopped.
The countdown on my Watch is behind the phone
The Watch runs its own countdown from the times the phone sent it, so the countdown does not drift. Only the schedule can be out of date. The phone hands over a new schedule when it changes and when you open the app; iOS delivers it when the two are next in range, usually quickly but not instantly.
To push it now, swipe down on the Watch screen. Or on the iPhone open Settings, Notifications, scroll to Apple Watch and tap Sync to Watch now. That panel also shows whether CallSlate is installed on the Watch. If not, add it from the Watch app on your iPhone.
Is the drone indicator a permit check?
No. It reflects weather only. It says nothing about airspace, permits, no-fly zones or local rules. Always check those yourself.
Sharing with the crew
Pro and billing
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us. In CallSlate, open Settings, Plan and choose Manage in the App Store to open Apple's subscription controls. You can also open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Refund requests also go through Apple. We cannot issue refunds ourselves.
I bought Pro but the app still says Free
Open Settings, Plan and tap Restore purchases.
Pro is linked to your CallSlate account, so sign in first under Settings, Account with Sign in with Apple, using the Apple ID that made the purchase.
What is in the free plan?
One active project with everything in it: the Live tab, the countdown, crew and shot lists, Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and Apple Watch, plus 2 AI call sheet imports every 30 days.
Pro adds unlimited projects and events, 80 AI imports every 30 days, and sharing the day by link or QR. See plans.
Privacy and your data
Where is my data stored?
Your project library, crew, gear and costs are stored on your iPhone. There is no server-side sync of your full projects. Export a backup before reinstalling or switching phones.
Selected information is sent to our services for these features:
- documents and text you select for import: PDF files are processed on our server, and Word files are sent there to extract their text before you review it; AI processing sends schedule text to OpenAI after your agreement
- a reduced schedule snapshot when you create a share link
- timeline information and push tokens to update a Live Activity
- addresses or coordinates for address lookup, weather and travel times
- device registration and security checks
- Apple sign-in and verification of purchases or restored subscriptions
The Privacy Policy explains what each feature sends, what is stored and when it is deleted.
How do I make a backup?
Open Settings, Support and under Data tap Export backup. You get one JSON file through the share sheet, so you can save it to Files or iCloud Drive.
On the new phone use Import backup in the same place.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting the app removes everything stored on the phone. Share links expire after 30 days or the moment you revoke them.
If you signed in with Apple, open Settings, Account and tap Delete Account. That removes your account from our server and stops the share links you made while signed in. It does not cancel a Pro subscription; that is managed by Apple.
For anything else, email privacy@callslate.app.
Still stuck?
Write to us.
CallSlate is made by a small team. We aim to reply within two working days; around weekends and shoot days it can take a little longer.
- It helps enormously if you include:
- what you expected to happen, and what happened instead
- your iPhone model and iOS version
- the app version (Settings, at the bottom of the screen)
- a screenshot, if the problem is visible
